The Novel Tobacco Products Association stands as a vital advocate for the fair regulation of novel tobacco products in Kenya. With a clear mandate to foster responsible trading and consumption practices, the Association has demonstrated its commitment to protecting the interests of industry stakeholders.

In a notable display of this commitment, the Association previously challenged what it deemed an irregular ban on Shisha products. This legal battle, fought through Judicial Review Case 2 of 2018 and 709 of 2017 (Consolidated), known as KENNEDY AMDANY LANGAT AND 14 OTHERS, showcased the Association’s determination to ensure fair regulatory practices. While the case ultimately concluded at the appeal stage in December 2024 without success, it highlighted the Association’s role as a defender of reasonable industry standards.

The Association continues to work toward creating a balanced regulatory environment that protects consumers while allowing legitimate businesses to operate responsibly. By joining the Association, members gain a collective voice in shaping the future of novel tobacco regulation in Kenya.
